The cafeteria uses a computerized cash register/data processing system for the lunch program. This system allows lunch transactions to be recorded and debited automatically. Lunches will be tracked on a bar code roster. All student information regarding lunch status will be confidential. A history of lunch and milk purchases will be maintained.

This system will not allow students to have a negative balance, therefore, NO CHARGING of lunches or milks can be allowed!

If you have a question regarding your child's lunch account, you are encouraged to call the school office (923-6411).

Carpenter Street School offers lunch and breakfast programs.

Breakfast is served in the cafeteria between 8:03 and 8:33 am and costs $1.25. Students approved for free or reduced lunch automatically qualify for free or reduced breakfast.

The lunch program offers students three choices:

  • children may bring their own lunch,
  • they may bring their lunch and order milk, or
  • they may order a school lunch, which includes milk

Lunch is served on every full day of instruction.
Cost of lunch is $2.05 per day, including milk.
Milk purchased a la carte is 50¢

Students who purchase a school lunch have three options:

  • Scheduled Hot Lunch of the Day (a full meal) - View the District Schedule
  • Pete Sack - a cold lunch - changes every week
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

In order to facilitate the buying of milk and lunches, parents should send milk and lunch money on MONDAY morning (or the first day of that week) in an envelope which states your child's name, teacher's name, lunches and/or milk ordered, and the total amount enclosed on the front of the envelope. Make checks payable to: Carpenter Street School. Our experience indicates that personal checks are the best method of payment.

If a child forgets his or her lunch, we allow them to call home and ask a parent to bring them a sack lunch or money to purchase a school lunch.

Adult supervision is provided in the lunchroom and on the playground, but we are always looking for parent volunteers to allow more activity choices, especially on bad weather days when the children cannot go outside.

Since it is extremely important that the school and parents know where students are at all times, students are not allowed to leave the school grounds at noon if they are eating lunch at school.

When any student is invited to be a luncheon guest at another student's home, prior written permission is necessary from the parents of both students!
